Ozzy, a cat out of He ... er, Boston, has started a blog. You may know Ozzy as the Anonymous Commenter. The cat is, literally, out of the bag.
Also, Ragini, a friend of friends, is apparently a reader of this blog (can you spot the key word there?). She's a bit of a prolific writer herself.

Has anyone noticed how classical music is packaged and marketed these days? I mean, I know that society now is racier than ever (no problems there), and sex sells and all that jazz.
But what does a semi-naked chick with a discretely placed violin have anything to do with classical music?!
And for those wondering, I didn't go looking for a semi-naked chick on a CD cover (well ... that's a different story). I happened to buy several classical tracks from iTMS recently and only just noticed the cover.
So Nokia's going to open a high-end phone store in NYC. I've had a Nokia for 2 years (18 months, maybe?) and I can tell ya that my 6600 sucks. Well ... as a phone it's decent. Good connectivity, no dropped calls, and so on. But the Symbian O/S is just that ... an O/S. And it appears to be the Windows of the mobile world - I actually picked up a Bluetooth virus when I was in Bangalore last year.
I do have some cribs with my phone though. It's got a huge screen, but pictures of callers take up all of ... oh, about 10% of that space. I mean, it's like it was designed by a minimalist or something. What's the fricking point of that huge screen?!
Also, the damned Bluetooth transmitter connects to my headset but not my PC. Which means that I can't sync up my Outlook address book with my phone. What's the point of the Bluetooth connection? It's not like it's going to check the state of my fridge (empty, smelling faintly of the bad food I threw out) and then order groceries through my PC or something.
But hey ... all said and done, it gives me better connections than my Sony Ericcson. And it's address book software is way better than Motorola's.
I think my iPod's kaput.
I first noticed it on Monday morning. A severe weather alert was called by LGA Control Tower, which meant that they cleared planes for take-off every 7-8 minutes. My plane had the good fortune of being #20 in the queue. Yes, we sat on the tarmac for about 2.5 hours. I crashed, or course. There wasn't anyone sitting next to me, and I managed to stretch out and doze for about 2 hours. I later found out that my stretch was the twist. I was walking around is a sort of half-crab scuttle ... like the world's first hunch-lumbar. This has nothing to do with my iPod, I just felt like complaining about my back.
The point is that even though I was asleep, I forgot to switch my iPod off. It ended up in continuous play mode (on a podcast, no less) from 6:45am to 11:30am. About 5 hours. Plus ... ooh, maybe about another hour or so before I got to the plane. So let's just call it 6 hours total.
The battery was totally drained.
Yup ... a 14-hour continuous play battery drained in less than half that time. I've been monitoring the battery meter the last couple of days and I can confirm that after about 3 hours of intermittent play, the battery meter was at 50%.
I think it's still under the one-year warranty, so hopefully I can get the battery replaced free of cost. I wonder how long I'd have to go without it though.
So I called Vidya to wish her for her birthday ... well, to apologize for not wishing her on time, and then to wish her.
So we caught up about things, especially about Aditi's Terrible Two-ness (FYI, she was singing in the background, and apparently dancing through the whole call ... Awwwww), and the whole bizzareness of the Japanese system (I'll let her elucidate)!
She was telling me about learning Japanese, and the fact that the language doesn't have complex syllables. Apparently my name was the first to pop into her head with regards to complex syllables (why me? I don't know. I'd like to speculate in private). My name, as it turns out, is pronounced A-KU-SHI-YA-U.
This raises the spectre of certain fantasies that I had long considered dead. I am right now fighting the urge to dig out the carboard poster tube that Kartik had left here a couple of years ago and wrap a tie around my head.
... don't miss the HBO Documentary, "Assume The Position With Mr. Wuhl". I caught it while channel surfing at the hotel room last week and was instantly hooked.
Kartik sent me an e-mail today telling me that Anathema was on the road with H.I.M. (warning, the website launches with streaming sound; mute your speakers if at work!) trying to drum up money for a new album. Seems they have issues with cutting a record deal. That's kinda odd. Last I checked, they were a fairly popular band in the goth/doom circles. I certainly remember worshipping their album, Judgement.
Anyway, in order to promote their stance, Anathema have released a new song online (go to the website above, click on "Multimedia").
Kartik also has a special request that Mike listens to, and hopefully promote, the new song. Because ... and I quote ... Mike is "the music guru".

Well, I'm done with travelling to Atlanta. Officially, I'm done on the 28th actually. I'm not sure where I'll be travelling to after that, but I think my next project'll be somewhere in the North-East. Who knows, I may even be in New York over the summer. That'd be nice.
It's kinda sad that although I spent over half a week, nearly every week, for the last 6 months in Atlanta, I still haven't seen much of the city. I've not visited the Coca-Cola factory, taken a tour of the CNN headquarters, or visited the Georgia Aquarium. I guess I should've stayed over a weekend to do any of those things.
The highlights of my travels here were a couple of the restaurants, in fact. There was Saffron, a Persian restaurant, that I visited in December. Then there was Trader Vic's last month. A couple of other nice places to eat that I forget - Indian & Indian-Chinese restaurants in Decatur.
I'll miss a lot of the folks I worked with, of course. Some others ... eh, not so much. :-)
